You Are More Than You Think!

My wife, Dee, loves the theater – particularly the play, The Lion King. She has seen that play at least seven times and the thrill of the performance is always the same.

And to be honest, I enjoy the experience each time as well. I discover different aspects of the scenery, recognize new nuances in the dialogue and am moved by the powerful music.

Be More
On my most recent viewing, I was re-inspired by one specific statement. Mufasa, the father, appears as an apparition to his son, Simba, who by this time is a grown, but playful, adult. Father, Mufasa says, “Simba, you are more than you have become!”

That statement could apply to all of us! We tend to get comfortable with life and don’t always get serious about the great possibilities for ourselves.

We want massive success, but often slack on the effort needed to achieve it! We have natural gifts and talents, but don’t invest the maximum energy to make those gifts and talents make money for us.

Mufasa reminds us we need to start living our greatness and not our comfort!

StretchTo be all that we were born to be, we must stretch beyond our places of comfort. It is uncomfortable to stretch. It is so much easier to be the lesser “us.”

So when Mufasa spoke to Simba, he spoke to you and me. There is something greater inside of us. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us!”

Right now, let’s make up our minds to work for the greater “us” within us, which is waiting to be released!
